Floor Schedule and Procedure: Under a Rule (1 bill):
This bill prohibits the enforcement of mandatory, pre-dispute arbitration (“forced arbitration”) provisions in contracts involving consumer, employment, antitrust, and civil rights disputes. The Rule, which was adopted on Wednesday, provides for one hour of general debate and makes in order the following amendments: Jordan Amendment Strikes from the bill a safe harbor for collectively bargained agreements. Fletcher Amendment Clarifies that nothing in this Act shall be construed to prohibit the use of arbitration on a voluntary basis when consent is given after the dispute arises. |
