Congressman Tom Emmer proudly represents Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District and was re-elected by his colleagues to serve as House Majority Whip for the 119th Congress, the third-highest position in House Republican leadership.
Sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives in January 2015, Tom is currently serving his sixth term. He sits on the House Financial Services Committee and serves as Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Artificial Intelligence.
Prior to being elected House Majority Whip for the 118th and 119th Congresses, Tom served as Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee from 2019 to 2022 where House Republicans picked up seats in back-to-back cycles and reclaimed the House majority for just the third time in nearly seven decades.
Born in 1961, Tom grew up in Minnesota and attended Saint Thomas Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alaska Fairbanks before returning to Minnesota to earn his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law, now Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
After practicing law for several years, he opened his own law firm. The next 20 years were spent balancing family, business, coaching hockey, and serving on the city councils of Independence and Delano, Minnesota. In 2004, he was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives where he served three terms.
He and his wife Jacquie have been married for nearly 40 years and have seven children. They reside in Delano, Minnesota.
