Whip Emmer Hosts Roundtable with Key Israel Stakeholders

WASHINGTON – Today, Majority Whip Tom Emmer hosted a roundtable with key Israel stakeholders to discuss continued support for our strongest ally in the Middle East. House Republicans have unequivocally condemned Hamas’ barbaric acts of terrorism, demanded the release of hostages in Gaza, and called for the resignation of blatant anti-Semites who sit in leadership positions at American universities.

Whip Emmer was joined by Representatives Mike Garcia (CA-27) and Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-26), as well as representatives from coalition groups including the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Action Fund, Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) Action, Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA), Reagan Institute, Republican Jewish Coalition, and others.

“So long as Republicans are in the majority, this House will proudly stand with Israel,” said Whip Emmer. “It’s astounding that 166 House Democrats would rather vote on the side of Hamas than support Israel when it matters most. The American people will not forget.”

“As Chairman of the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Subcommittee in the House Committee on Appropriations, I will continue to work to provide robust assistance to our ally, Israel, as it battles terrorism on multiple fronts,” said Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart. “Also, the despicable displays of antisemitism worldwide in the aftermath of October 7 proved that it is crucial that key stakeholders come together to find ways to eradicate this dangerous and insidious threat. By working together, we can effectively support Israel, expose and condemn antisemitism, and ensure that our close ally in the Middle East has every tool necessary to defend itself.”

“The U.S. must continue to stand with Israel, our strongest ally, in their mission to eliminate Hamas and reestablish regional stability in the Middle East,” said Rep. Mike Garcia. “Israel is fighting a number of Iran-backed terrorist groups that threaten its very existence. Our most important strategic partner not only deserves, but requires our unequivocal support. We cannot go wobbly on allowing Israel the time and freedom of action necessary to completely destroy our shared enemy and reestablish stability. And we must treat the Iranian regime and its proxies as the terrorists they are and prosecute them without impunity. I want to thank Majority Whip Tom Emmer for hosting this important conversation, and I look forward to continuing this work with our Israeli partners in defense of freedom, democracy, and mutual security.”

In the wake of unprovoked attacks by Hamas terrorists on October 7, House Republicans have voted on five key pieces of legislation to support Israel and ensure they receive the resources needed to eradicate Hamas once and for all:

  1. H. Res. 966, which condemns acts of rape and sexual violence as weapons of war, including those acts committed by Hamas on and since October 7, 2023.

  2. H.R. 3016, which protects U.S. companies from being forced to participate in boycotts against allied countries.

  3. H.R. 7217, which provides $17.6 billion in supplemental appropriations for Israel and costs incurred by the U.S. military. Nearly 80% of House Democrats blocked the legislation.

  4. H.R. 6126, which provides $14.3 billion in offset emergency supplemental appropriations to support Israel in its military response to the attacks by Hamas terrorists on October 7.

  5. H.R. 340, which imposes sanctions targeting Hamas and any of its supporters following the terrorist group’s attack against Israel on October 7.

  6. H. Res. 771, which reaffirms Israel's right to self-defense, condemns Hamas' brutal war against Israel, and reaffirms the United States' commitment to Israel's security.
