Whip Emmer on the importance of passing the SAVE America Act through the Senate:

“What’s coming out of the Senate, everybody has heard them say, ‘we don’t have the votes [to pass the SAVE America Act].’ Really? You don’t have the votes for something that’s an 80% issue across this country with Republicans, Democrats, and others? People believe it’s reasonable that in order to vote in this country, you must first establish that you are a lawful citizen. That’s number one. Number two, when you show up to vote, you make sure that you identify - you can confirm that you are a citizen who is lawfully right to vote by showing a photo ID. That’s an 80% issue. That is something that is Republican, Democrat, and other, and they tell us they don’t have the votes. Here’s the other thing that you got to pay attention to. When you say you don’t have the votes, tell us what the problem is! What exactly do you disagree with when it comes to the American people, and they’re not telling us that. So as a House member, I am extremely frustrated, but it is not me that you should be concerned with. It’s the American people who want this done.”

Whip Emmer on the upcoming work of the House:

“The short-term funding bill that was sent over by the Senate, the continuing resolution that would fund the government through December 11th, that’ll be a priority over in the House because we get things done, Cheryl. That’s the whole issue. You’re asking what our priorities are; we’ve sent our priorities over to the Senate. We sent the Clarity Act, which is about digital assets, a market structure bill, we sent that a year ago with almost 100 Democrat votes, and it languishes over in the Senate. We sent the SAVE America Act several times, and it sits idle over there, languishing in the Senate. And we sent over, obviously, reconciliation 3.0, which is also just sitting there in the Senate. It really is going to be on the Senate’s shoulders to start getting something done when we get back. As for the House, we’ve got appropriations bills. Many of our members have different priorities, those will be addressed. There’s a surface transportation bill that needs to be addressed by the 30th. Obviously, these would all be covered by the CR, but these are the priorities of the House. And the House has been working, we’ve been getting our stuff over to the Senate. The Senate’s got to start to perform.”

Whip Emmer on President Trump and the upcoming midterm election:

“We’ve been told time and time again without Donald J. Trump on the ballot, these people are not coming out. We’ve got a president who is totally invested. He didn't run for two years, he ran for four. He understands the gravity of this midterm. He understands that we’re swimming upstream based on history, but we have the best map we've ever had. We’ve got a performance in terms of the economic wins, billions of dollars are coming into our economy right now, and people on the street are starting to feel it. That’s going to be the key as that hits November 3rd, I believe we are going to be in great shape when we get there.”
