Today, Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) joined House Republican leadership to denounce the rise of socialism and condemn candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

Whip Emmer: “After today, 47 states will have held their primary elections. Our biggest takeaway is that we no longer have a two-party system in this country. We no longer have two parties that believe our form of government is the best way to govern a country. On November 3rd, more than 120 candidates backed by the self-named, self-proclaimed Democratic Socialists of America, more appropriately referred to as the Communists of America, will appear on ballots all across this country. This includes dozens of congressional candidates. In case anyone needs a refresher: these people support open borders, dismantling our military, eliminating the free market, supporting gender mutilation of our children, and defunding local, state, and federal law enforcement. Their platform is blatantly anti-American. They hate America. There is nothing democratic about socialism! They are communists! We’ve got a candidate for the U.S. Senate - Abdul El-Sayed - this supposedly great candidate is the communist alternative in Michigan to Mike Rogers, has pledged support for the leader of the terrorist group the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed also refuses to condemn rhetoric that ‘we deserved 9/11.’ We’ve got the 25th Anniversary coming up, and that’s totally inappropriate. Democrats are nominating people, just like Ilhan Omar, who literally hate America. This isn’t good for real Democrats, but it’s also not good for our nation. We have a fight brewing between common sense and communism. This week, the House is voting on a resolution denouncing socialism, and I’m hoping our colleagues across the aisle might join in that common sense vote.”
