In the interviews, Whip Emmer takes aim at the shady timeline of events surrounding Keith Ellison’s meeting with Somali fraudsters in 2021 and emphasizes that this is just the beginning of the Trump administration’s War on Fraud.

Fox News Digital via Elizabeth Elkind: “The highest-ranking Minnesotan in Congress is calling for a deeper investigation into allegations that leaders in his state government knowingly ignored evidence of welfare fraud, and he called for those leaders to even face incarceration if proven true. ‘People are sick and tired of elected officials having a double standard, being treated differently than they are. They're held accountable for things that they should be held accountable for, when their elected officials are not,’ House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., told Fox News Digital. ‘If these two guys are dirty, they should be held accountable, and they should serve jail time.’”

New York Post via Ryan King: “House Majority Whip Tom Emmer publicly accused Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison on Wednesday of lying about a 2021 meeting with later-convicted Somali fraudsters. During a House Oversight Committee hearing on welfare fraud in Minnesota, Emmer (R-Minn.) lambasted Ellison over audio of the meeting in which the AG told the future felons, who were claiming at the time to be victims of racist government policy, that ‘I got your back.’ Ellison has claimed that the scammers ensnared in the Feeding Our Future scandal lied to him and took advantage of his ‘good faith.’ ‘He’s clearly got something to hide,’ Emmer told The Post of the exchange. ‘The timeline of events actually is looking quite damning for Keith Ellison in particular…If it becomes clear that he actively obstructed the Feeding Our Future fraud investigation in exchange for campaign donations, as the audiotape of his December 2021 meeting suggests, he needs to be disbarred, and he needs to go to jail.’”

As much as $9 billion in taxpayer funds may have been stolen from Minnesota’s social programs in schemes where the vast majority of those charged were of Somali descent, federal officials say. Emmer, who represents Minnesota’s 6th congressional district, spoke to the Daily Caller News Foundation after joining House Oversight Committee members Wednesday to grill Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison about their role in presiding over the theft of taxpayer funds intended for those in need…Emmer called Vance’s appointment an ‘excellent decision,’ adding he has ‘full confidence in our vice president…[Vance is] going to go from Minnesota to places like California to Illinois to New York. They know where the fraud is currently, and they know where they need to look,’ Emmer told the DCNF. ‘I have no doubt that when the president says this, he’s gonna find it, and they’re gonna root these people out.’ The Minnesota Republican has began sounding the alarm on fraud in his home state for years. The Walz administration was first notified of the rampant abuses as early as 2019, shortly after the fraud was said to have began, according to the assistant commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Education who testified under oath.”
