Whip Emmer touts key stakeholder support for the SAVE America Act

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) today announced key stakeholder support for Representative Chip Roy’s (R-Texas) SAVE America Act, which restores the integrity of America’s election system by requiring a government-issued photo ID to cast a ballot and proof of citizenship to register to vote.

Here’s what stakeholders are saying about the SAVE America Act:

AMAC Action:

“America’s seniors have spent a lifetime participating in elections and upholding the rule of law. We understand that public confidence in elections is essential to the survival of our republic. The SAVE America Act takes clear, commonsense steps to ensure that federal elections are secure, lawful, and worthy of the public’s trust.”

America First Policy Institute:

“Noncitizen voting in American elections is unacceptable. As an American citizen, casting a ballot is a civic duty, a unique privilege, and a fundamental right to help determine who represents you in government and who will stand for your ideas, values, and freedom. And that right, which men and women have died on foreign battlefields to protect, is discarded when noncitizens are allowed to vote. Requiring photo voter ID and prohibiting noncitizen voting in are strong reforms that restore voter confidence. These reforms are desperately needed because the Biden administration has callously and intentionally allowed tens of millions of illegals to flood into our country in a blatant attack on our election system. American law can and must protect the voting process and ensure that it be a privilege held by, and only held by, the American citizen—and that's exactly what the Save America Act does.”

CatholicVote:

“The SAVE America Act strengthens election integrity and rebuilds public confidence in the electoral process. Thirty-six states and almost two hundred countries have similar laws to protect the voting process. That is why at least 83% of Americans support requiring a valid ID to vote. It would seem that the only people who oppose the law are Democrats. CatholicVote supports the SAVE America Act and expects the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate to get this important bill to the President as soon as possible.”

Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE):

“We believe that protecting America’s electoral system is critical to ensuring the freedom and dignity of all Americans, including those in our most distressed communities. Therefore, we urge you to protect the integrity of our nation’s electoral system and the voting rights of all Americans by supporting the SAVE America Act.”

Eagle Forum:

“As we head into another crucial midterm election, American citizens need to know that their votes count – and that only their votes count. Millions of illegal immigrants entered and were allowed to remain here by the Biden Administration over the last four years. Some were even given voter registration information. We know that in certain jurisdictions, like the District of Columbia, noncitizens are permitted to vote in local elections. American citizens of all political parties know that safeguards are necessary to protect the voting franchise we all hold dear. That is why over 80% of Americans  support requiring identification to vote in federal elections. Eagle Forum is pleased to support the SAVE America Act that will ensure that only citizens are allowed to register to vote and that all voters present IDs at the polls. We encourage Congress to pass the SAVE America Act so that trust in our elections will be strengthened.”

Election Integrity Network and Only Citizens Vote Coalition:

“The SAVE America Act is even better than the SAVE Act – because it adds the requirement for presenting a photo ID when voting in a federal election, whether in person or by mail. Thirty-six states have adopted some form of voter ID, most of them including photo ID, so this is hardly a revolutionary concept. Requiring proof of US citizenship to register and requiring photo ID to vote in a federal election are two principles that are supported by the vast majority of Americans, including more than 70% of Democrats. We are grateful to the House GOP leadership for its determination to get this enhanced version of the SAVE Act passed for the third time and we call on Sen. Thune to put the SAVE America Act on the Senate floor, and to make the Democrats in the Senate come to the floor and explain in a talking filibuster why they oppose a bill that enjoys overwhelming support of super-majorities of the American people.”

Faith and Freedom Coalition:

“Recent polling has shown that approximately 80% of Americans, regardless of political party, gender, or ethnicity, support verified citizenship identification to register and vote in our elections. As the world’s foremost Constitutional Republic, the United States must lead by example ensuring that voting integrity is safeguarded and election results can be trusted. For these reasons, we strongly urge a “YES” vote on final passage of this bill and will continue to urge passage of this important legislation in the US Senate. Thank you for considering the views of our members and supporters, who rate protecting America’s election integrity as one of their top concerns.”

Federation for American Immigration Reform:

“The SAVE America Act is crucial for protecting election integrity after millions of illegal aliens flooded into the U.S. under the Biden administration. Requiring individuals to prove citizenship before registering to vote, voters to present identification before casting ballots, and states to remove noncitizens from voter rolls are commonsense reforms to close the door on voter fraud. Only American citizens should have a say in American elections.”

Heritage Action:

“The right to vote is a defining privilege of American citizenship, and it must be protected without apology. The SAVE America Act ends reckless loopholes the Left exploits to keep themselves in power. Keeping noncitizens off our voter rolls should be a top priority for every elected official—but especially those in Congress. At a time of shocking fraud and burning cities, failure to act is a choice to weaken our republic. Rep. Chip Roy chose action and has taken a bold stand for American citizens. Heritage Action is grateful for his leadership and the GOP conference for advancing this bill to strengthen our elections and our national sovereignty.”

Immigration Accountability Project:
“The SAVE America Act is one of the most consequential and common-sense pieces of legislation to be voted on by Congress. The right of Americans to decide our nation’s future without interference from foreign nationals is at the heart of our Constitutional Republic. We are grateful to Speaker Johnson, Leader Scalise, and Whip Emmer for putting this bill on the floor and passing it again. Hopefully, the third time will be the charm!”

NumbersUSA:

“The SAVE America Act would remove powerful incentives for people to remain in the country illegally, adding a clear voter ID requirement and strengthening protections to ensure only U.S. citizens vote in federal elections. Automatic voter registration programs are quietly adding non-citizens to voter rolls when they apply for driver’s licenses or government benefits, sometimes without their knowledge. Even though federal law limits voting to citizens, these programs invite abuse and weaken election integrity. NumbersUSA strongly supports passage of the SAVE America Act to protect our country’s elections.”

State Freedom Caucus Network:

“Nearly 200 State Freedom Caucus members serve in 13 states, and they all hear the same thing back home: people want elections they can trust. Folks who work for a living have to show ID all the time—at the bank, at the doctor’s office, even to pick up a package—and they don’t see why voting should be any different. Only Americans should vote in American elections, and proving who you are is just part of being a responsible citizen. The SAVE America Act matches the common-sense values of the voters and the state lawmakers they sent to represent them.”

Tea Party Patriots Action (TPPA):

“We at Tea Party Patriots Action urge every Member of Congress to vote for the SAVE America Act…This is one of the most important issues Congress will take up during this session, and we must do everything we can to get it across the finish line.”
