Whip Emmer touts key stakeholder support for pro-life legislation

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) today announced key stakeholder support for two pieces of pro-life legislation considered on the House floor this week. The bills include Representative Michelle Fischbach’s (R-Minn.) Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act and Representative Ashley Hinson’s (R-Iowa) Pregnant Students’ Rights Act.

Here’s what stakeholders are saying about Rep. Fischbach’s Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act:

American Association of Pro-Life OBGYNs (AAPLOG) Action:

“As physicians and medical professionals committed to the health and well-being of both our patients - women and their preborn children - AAPLOG Action strongly supports H.R. 6945, introduced by Representative Michelle Fischbach.”

Americans United for Life (AUL):

“Americans United for Life supports H.R. 6945, the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act, which would explicitly protect states’ ability to direct federal TANF funds to pregnancy centers that provide practical assistance to mothers, fathers, and families.”

CatholicVote:

“The passage of this bill should not be controversial; however, the extremism of the Democratic Party has made it clear that if you are a young mother who chooses life, they will make it harder for you to prosper. If there is a vote on the House floor, CatholicVote will score in favor of H.R. 6945, ‘Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act’ in our annual scorecard for the 119th Congress.”

Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE):

“As we prepare for the annual March for Life in our nation’s capital this week, the House will consider H.R. 6359, Pregnant Students’ Rights Act and H.R. 6945, Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act. The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) supports these life-affirming bills and we urge you to affirm them with favorable votes.”

Eagle Forum:

“Life is truly a gift- one that is given to us by God and reaffirmed in the Constitution. Women and men should feel supported when bringing life into this world. For these reasons, we ask that you vote in favor of H.R. 6945 and H.R. 6359. Both votes on final passage will be added to our Congressional Scorecard.”

Family Policy Alliance:
“Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) provide essential and practical assistance to vulnerable mothers, fathers, and families choosing life for their unborn children. The ability for states to support PRCs with existing Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds would not only protect children in womb, but it would also greatly preserve state flexibility in serving families in need. This bill aligns with Family Policy Alliance’s steadfast commitment to defending the sanctity of life while compassionately walking alongside those in need. Supporting this legislation is vital to ensure that no future regulatory efforts to block these life-affirming partnerships with PRCs can come to fruition.”

Heartbeat International:

“Heartbeat International welcomes federal efforts to protect the pregnancy help community from unjust discrimination. Our pregnancy help centers, maternity homes, medical centers, and adoption agencies offer invaluable support to moms and families--often without a dime of taxpayer funds. Every state should promote practical, life-affirming help for moms unexpectedly pregnant. States that protect unborn life and promote maternal health should be permitted to partner with members of our community to offer effective care. H.R. 6945, Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act levels the playing field and helps ensure that pro-abortion politicians can't exclude us from strategic and compassionate partnership.”

Independent Women’s Voice:

“H.R. 6945 appropriately clarifies that TANF funds may be used to support pregnancy centers and prohibits discrimination against these organizations. This legislation ensures states retain the flexibility to partner with effective, community-based providers and prevents future administrations from unfairly singling out pregnancy centers based on their mission. We are proud to support this legislation and urge Congress to work toward the swift passage of this bill.”

March for Life Action:

“March for Life Action applauds the reintroduction of Rep. Fischbach’s Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act. This legislation champions pregnancy centers and the compassionate people who stand with women and their babies in times of need, as these centers offer practical, actionable ways to empower women throughout pregnancy and beyond. March for Life Action will continue to advocate for policies that prioritize supporting women and their babies, empowering them to choose life with confidence and hope.”

National Council of Child Support Directors (NCCSD):

“I write to express the support of the National Council of Child Support Directors (NCCSD) for H.R. 6903 – Ensuring Children Receive Support Act. NCCSD is a nonpartisan organization comprised of the 54 child support directors who, pursuant to Title IV-D of the Social Security Act, oversee administration of the federal child support program in each state and territory. Passage of this bill would represent the first enhancement of enforcement mechanisms since the enactment of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) of 1996.”

National Right to Life:

“At a time when families are facing increased economic pressure, Congress should be empowering, not restricting, states that wish to support organizations meeting real needs in their communities. This legislation promotes flexibility, fairness, and common sense. For these reasons, National Right to Life urges you to vote YES on the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act. This vote will be considered a key vote for our organization.”

Students for Life Action:
“The abortion industrial complex has waged war against people having life-affirming pregnancy resources for many years now. While Pregnancy Care Centers support women with free services and supplies, a billion-dollar abortion industry receives revenue sometimes from taxpayers, corporate interests, and unlucky people, exposed to their death-for-profit business model. These critically important centers offer more services than any abortion facility, including Planned Parenthood, and virtually all for free. The pro-life movement is and always has been not only pro-life, but pro-women. In fact, the pro-life movement is the only one fighting to give women all their choices, unlike what Planned Parenthood claims to do. We will continue our fight until every woman and every child is protected and supported under the law. Students for Life Action firmly supports the ‘Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act’ by Rep. Fischbach (R-MN).”

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America:

“Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is grateful to Congresswoman Fischbach for championing this vital legislation, and for the work of the Ways and Means Committee to advance this bill. We must not allow our federal government to be weaponized again by a pro-abortion administration. H.R. 6945, ensures that no future administration can target, punish, and discriminate against organizations that don’t adhere to their radical pro-abortion agenda.”

Here’s what stakeholders are saying about Rep. Hinson’s Pregnant Students’ Rights Act:

American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) Action:

“AAPLOG Action (the advocacy arm of The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists [AAPLOG]) strongly supports H.R.6359, the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act. AAPLOG Action believes women and girls deserve support and empowerment, rather than pressure to abort, especially at colleges and universities. The Pregnant Students' Rights Act directly aligns with our mission to promote fully informed consent, maternal well-being, life-affirming medical care, and the protection of both our patients - women and their preborn children. We commend Representative Hinson for this bill that uplifts pregnant students and removes barriers that might otherwise pressure them towards induced abortion.”

Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee:

“Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee’s hundreds of thousands of members stand in strong support of the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act because we believe that pregnant women and new mothers in higher education deserve the resources, care, and support they need to thrive as both students and mothers. By establishing reliable protocols under Title IX, this legislation will empower pregnant and parenting students to choose life, connect with counseling services and pregnancy resource centers, and access academic accommodations. As the nation celebrates the March for Life this week, CWALAC supports Pregnant Students’ Rights Act because we know that pro-life is pro-woman.”

Independent Women’s Voice:

“Colleges and universities have a responsibility to foster environments in which all students can succeed. The Pregnant Students’ Rights Act helps ensure that pregnant students are treated with dignity, supported appropriately, and empowered with accurate information about their rights and options. We are proud to support this legislation and urge Congress to work toward the swift passage of this bill.”

Iowa Right to Life:

“Iowa Right to Life supports and applauds Ms. Hinson and the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act. We believe women deserve meaningful support to achieve their dreams and ambitions. A college education should not be a hindrance to motherhood, but an opportunity that empowers women to pursue more for themselves and their families. This legislation helps push back against a culture that too often suggests ending a baby’s life is the only path to success. Iowa has already passed state legislation that protects women who need reasonable accommodations during pregnancy in order to complete their education. This effort not only enhances those protections, but strengthens the message we stand for: women are valuable, capable, and fully able to reach their goals when they are supported by the people and institutions around them.”

National Right to Life:

“By promoting awareness of accommodations and support, this legislation affirms that no student should be forced to choose between their education and carrying a child to term. It encourages a campus environment that respects both academic opportunity and the dignity of motherhood. For these reasons, National Right to Life urges you to vote YES on the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act. This vote will be considered a key vote for our organization.”

Students for Life Action:

“A pro-abortion mindset poisons a lot of campus life, and we fight for the free speech rights of our pro-life students every day. But this bill rights a terrible wrong against those who have chosen to invest in school as well as family and need to know that they are not alone. Schools must not stay silent about the resources available to mothers at school.”

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America:

“H.R. 6359 is straightforward legislation that ensures students do not wrongly assume that their only options are to choose between their education and their child. Colleges and universities must make pregnant and parenting students aware of their life-affirming rights and of the on-campus and community resources available to them. Further, the bill makes clear a student’s right to file complaints under Title IX if she is discriminated against on the basis of her decision to carry her child to term. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America supports and will score in favor of H.R. 6359.”
