Whip Emmer, Minnesota Republican Delegation Issue Statement on Nomination of James Stuart to serve as U.S. Marshal for the District of Minnesota

WASHINGTON - Today, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), along with the rest of the Minnesota Republican Delegation, issued the following statement on the nomination of James Stuart to serve as U.S. Marshal for the District of Minnesota.

"We thank President Trump for nominating one of our recommended candidates, Sheriff James Stuart, as the U.S. Marshal for the District of Minnesota. James served in law enforcement for thirty years and experienced firsthand the importance of strong law and order policies. Sheriff Stuart will support and implement President Trump's successful crime crackdown as our U.S. Marshal. As criminals, gangs, and fraudsters wreak havoc in Tim Walz's Minnesota, we urge the Senate to move quickly to confirm James' nomination,” said Representatives Tom Emmer, Pete Stauber, Michelle Fischbach, and Brad Finstad.

Background

Earlier this year, following the formation of a nominations committee chaired by former Minnesota Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson, the representatives recommended to President Trump that James Stuart be considered for the position of U.S. Marshal for the District of Minnesota.
