Whip Emmer on Fox Business: Chuck Schumer is leading his progressive left right off the end of the pier with this needless shutdown

Today, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) joined Fox Business’ “Varney & Co.” to call out Congressional Democrats for shutting down the government and holding the American people hostage.

Whip Emmer on Democrats’ absurd list of demands to reopen the government:
“This is the whole goal. They also want to put illegals back on taxpayer-funded health care. Just look at Maxine Waters last week. She said that’s exactly what this is all about. They’ve got some misplaced spending priorities. This is why Donald J. Trump got 77 million votes last November. This is why Americans elected a Republican House and a Republican Senate to deal with this problem and that’s what we have done by passing the Working Families Tax Cut Act back in July that the president signed into law. And now, for whatever reason, I believe it’s because the leader in the Senate, Stuart, Chuck Schumer, is literally leading his progressive left, the Marxists that are controlling that radical party, right off the end of the pier with this needless shutdown.”
Whip Emmer on Democrats’ shutdown hypocrisy:
“Adam Schiff is a proven liar. He is about as dishonest a human being as you’re going to find. And poor Hakeem is nothing more than a cartoon character at this point, playing some kind of ridiculous part. But the fact is, Chuck Schumer supported this exact clean CR just six months ago and so did all of the Democrats in the Senate. By the way, Chuck Schumer and these same Democrats all voted for the same clean CR 13 times, Stuart, under the Biden administration. It’s literally, they are responsible for shutting down the government and holding the American people hostage, and it's got to end.”
Whip Emmer on potential OMB layoffs if Democrats refuse to reopen the government:
“Well look, Stuart. Difficult decisions have to be made. There are no negotiations. We negotiated back in September. The negotiation was to have a 7-week funding bill that would allow our appropriations process to try and finish. We’re trying to get back to regular order appropriations that they haven’t done around here in decades. We have a conference committee voted on by both the Senate and House last month for the first time since 2018. This funding bill is necessary to get people back to the table, and if they don’t do it, Stuart, the administration has to do what’s in the best interest of the country and the American people. They are going to have to make hard decisions. And as the president has said, this shutdown, which is purely the Democrats and Chuck Schumer, they are going to cost a lot of people their jobs if they continue.”
