Whip Emmer on government funding:

“This is just keeping things status quo for the next seven weeks because, believe it or not, despite what the leader’s rhetoric is on the Senate side, Republicans and Democrats that are in the conference committee on three appropriations bills right now are extremely close to wrapping those up. So, this seven-week period is trying to move us back towards a regular order appropriations process, which has been the goal of the House Republicans from the beginning. We're not there yet, but this is a step forward. There is no partisan poison pill. There's no additions that people are going to…put their jerseys on and take their corners. It is simply keeping the status quo for seven weeks so that the two bodies can finish their work.”

Whip Emmer on Democrat votes against Charlie Kirk resolution:

“It was disgusting today. You have more than half the Democrats that did not vote in favor of a resolution that condemns the very political violence you just heard her saying, ‘We condemn.’...I mean, you had 58 Democrats vote no. You had 38 Democrats, like the one you just showed the clip of, that voted present—which is a very cowardly thing to do—and then you had 22 that didn't even show up. Harris, if we all believe that political violence is something that should never be tolerated in this country, that was one of the easiest ‘yes’ votes you could ever have. But you see the problem is—it's a problem on the Left. I think it was Rutgers that did a survey…that [found] 55% of people on the Left think assassinating the president, you know, [think] there might be some

basis for that.”

Whip Emmer on member security:

“It actually is part of the CR…The White House had asked for an additional [$30 million] for the executive branch to boost security. They asked for an additional $28 million for the US Supreme Court, and I think we're all well aware of the heightened risk that the justices have faced. Then we added another $30 million to plus-up the Congress. So, everybody is extremely concerned and, by the way, our speaker, myself, our leadership, we don't care Republican or Democrat. Everybody should be safe.”
