This week, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) joined Fox Business’ The Bottom Line and Fox News Radio’s The Guy Benson Show to discuss a wide range of topics, including the Fed, President Trump’s D.C. crime crackdown, and Governor Tim Walz’s failed leadership and inflammatory rhetoric.

Whip Emmer on the Fed: “In the Biden years, [Jerome Powell] knew that the excessive Democrat spending at the beginning of the term was going to bring double-digit inflation. And for whatever reason, he delayed, delayed, delayed instead of dealing with the monetary policy and the issues that were right on the horizon. And by the time he got involved, he started blaming corporate greed, started blaming everything but the fact that he mismanaged that office. Now, you've had five straight months of inflation cooling. President Trump is right to be frustrated with the chair of the Fed. I think it starts there. When Jay Powell decides to go or when he's gone next May, I think you can literally start to fix the Fed. But in the meantime, he should start following the numbers. There should have been a rate cut already. We'll see.”
Whip Emmer on President Trump’s D.C. crime crackdown: “Donald Trump is the law-and-order president. Donald Trump campaigned on making America safe again, and what he's showing you in Washington D.C. is we can do this if we have the will to do it… I was down in Navy Yard yesterday, Lydia, and I was talking to the National Guardsman and thanking them for their work. I literally had a resident that was there, an older woman, African-American lady, that walked up and said, ‘Thank you.’ Muriel Bowser figured it out. That's why instead of opposing Donald Trump, she is actually going to cooperate with the administration in making sure that we continue to make the District of Columbia safe.”

Whip Emmer on unseemly comments by Governor Walz regarding rumors of President Trump’s health: “He’s an embarrassment to himself and our state…He literally blamed Republican rhetoric for the assassination of Melissa Hortman, who I actually served with in the Minnesota legislature, and her husband. It was because of our rhetoric—that is not accurate. And then he goes out and says stuff like that. Clearly, his hatred for Donald Trump overrides everything else in his tiny little brain because he's not governing our state and he keeps shooting his mouth off on stuff like this. So darn insensitive and inappropriate. I wish we could have adult leadership in the state of Minnesota. I tell you what, if he's doomscrolling, I hope what he finds in the next couple of days is an announcement of the end of his political career.” |
