“We have just gotten started with Chairmen Jamie Comer, with Jim Jordan, and with Jason Smith – the three chairs that are heavily involved in this area, and they are just following the facts, David. You talk about the President. That is the issue. What did the president know? Well, we know that the president has lied several times already. It’s documented about what he knew and when he knew it. It is very likely that the president knew, that the President was involved, and that the president benefitted off this. And these guys have to follow the facts. Literally, what I told our members this morning is our Speaker is making a decision whether he wants to have a floor vote on an impeachment inquiry. All that would be is continuing the inquiry that has already begun under the previous speaker. The reason for it is, on November 17th, the White House sent Chairman Comer and Chairman Jordan a letter saying that they are not going to honor, in essence, they are not going to honor the subpoenas that have been served without a floor vote. So, it’s very likely they’re going to have to go to court to enforce the subpoenas it looks like. The question is, does Speaker Johnson want to have a vote on the impeachment inquiry on the floor to build up that argument?”
Whip Emmer on Democrats’ hypocrisy regarding depositions:
“You look now, all they're trying to do in the White House is give you a shiny object to take your attention off of the reality that we’ve got some serious questions about the president and his family selling their name for a financial benefit around the globe. Our guys have to do their job. They have a Constitutional obligation to do the investigation. They are going to follow the facts where they lead them. They are not going to do what the Democrats did. I find it interesting that the Democrats now don't believe that depositions make sense. That's the way it works. That's the way they did it. You’re going to have to take depositions. You’re going to have to have a public hearing.”
