WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today issued the following statement on Senate introduction of S. 4, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021:
“Yesterday’s introduction of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act in the Senate is an important step toward protecting minority voting rights, which have been under increased threat from retrogressive state laws eroding access to the ballot box.
“I am in full support of this legislation, and I urge its swift enactment to protect the most fundamental right in our democracy.”
