MAJORITY WHIP CLYBURN STATEMENT ON JUDGE CHILDS' CONFIRMATION TO THE D.C. CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn issued the following statement today on the confirmation of Judge J. Michelle Childs to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals: “I am pleased by the Senate’s strong bipartisan vote today to confirm Judge J. Michelle Childs to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. My admiration and advocacy for Judge Childs is well known. She possesses the diversity of life experiences that is currently absent from much of the federal bench. “Judge Childs attended public universities for her undergraduate and law degrees. She has practiced in the private sector but spent most of her career using her talents as a public servant. Judge Childs has demonstrated the intellect, the temperament, the bona fides, and the life experiences to be an outstanding addition to this prestigious court. She is well regarded and held in high esteem by her colleagues in the judiciary and across all political and geographic spectrums. “This is a proud day for South Carolina and for all young people of similar backgrounds and experiences who aspire to follow her example. I look forward to welcoming Judge Childs to Washington for this next chapter in her distinguished career.” |
