WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn issued the following statement on the passage of H.R. 6201, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act: “From the beginning of this health crisis, House Democrats have been committed to providing support for America’s families hit the hardest by COVID-19. I’m proud that we passed legislation that ensures coronavirus testing is free for everyone who needs it, secures paid sick days and family leave, enhances unemployment insurance, protects access to food, and increases federal funds for Medicaid. This bill and the recently enacted supplemental appropriations are just the first steps that Congress will take to mitigate this pandemic, and we will continue to do everything possible to safeguard the economic security of working families. I encourage my Senate colleagues to return to work immediately to pass this bill and provide peace of mind to working families that have been and will continue to be affected by this pandemic.”
