Floor Schedule and Procedure:

Complete Consideration of S.J.Res. 14 – Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Environmental Protection Agency relating to “Oil and Natural Gas Sector: Emission Standards for New, Reconstructed, and Modified Sources Review” (Sen. Heinrich – Energy and Commerce)

In 2016, the Obama Administration EPA finalized standards to put limits on methane pollution, a harmful greenhouse gas which accelerates climate change much faster than carbon dioxide and worsens respiratory illnesses, especially in children who live in communities near oil and gas operations.

In 2020, the Trump Administration rescinded the methane standards. Adoption of S.J. Res. 14 will invalidate the Trump Recission Rule and reinstate the previously established methane standards.
