WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 2701, which authorizes Intelligence spending for the 2010 fiscal year:

“This authorization bill will strengthen our nation’s intelligence networks and keep Americans safe both at home and abroad. It allocates funds for needed upgrades and covers other spending priorities for existing networks. These changes will improve our intelligence capabilities and help advance our military’s missions in Afghanistan and Iraq while keeping our men and women in uniform safe. Guarding the national security is a government’s most sacred duty. Today’s vote will help ensure that our intelligence services can continue to keep our citizens and soldiers safe in the year ahead. “
