WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn today released the following statement on the 40thAnniversary of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies is one of the nation’s leading research and public policy institutions and the only one whose work focuses primarily on issues of particular concern to African Americans and other people of color.
“It is with great honor that I congratulate and pay tribute to the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies on their 40th Anniversary. The Joint Center became the first African American think tank, providing training and assistance to newly elected black officials and has become one of our nation’s premier think tanks.
“The Joint Center has been dedicated to addressing public policy issues concerning the needs of African Americans. Their ongoing role in expanding African American leadership in the nation’s political and civic life is one that must be celebrated.”
