Floor Schedule and Procedure: Under a Rule (2 bills):
The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), enacted in 1994, is landmark legislation responding to our nation’s crisis of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. This bill makes numerous substantive improvements to VAWA, described in the materials below from the Judiciary Committee: The Rule provides for no further general debate and made in order 40 amendments. A full list of amendments can be found HERE. As of last night, the House has completed debate through Rose (NY) Amendment #38. Amendments to be considered today: Axne Amendment (10 minutes of debate) Increases STOP grants from $40 million to $60 million. Torres Small Amendment (10 minutes of debate) Ensures all provisions of the bill comply with immigration laws.
This resolution directs the President to remove U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities in or affecting Yemen that have not been authorized by Congress, except those engaged in operation directed at al-Qaeda or its associated forces. This resolution passed the Senate by a vote of 54-46. A similar resolution passed the House 248-177. The Rule, which was adopted on Tuesday, provides for one hour of debate equally divided and controlled by the Chair and Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Postponed Suspension (1 Vote):
