- H.R. 2420 – National Museum of the American Latino Act, as amended (Rep. Serrano – House Administration)
This bill would establish the National Museum of the American Latino in the Smithsonian Institution, establish a Board of Trustees to advise and assist the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian regarding the museum, and authorize the appointment of a Director of the museum.
- S. 2163 – Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys Act (Sen. Rubio/Rep. Wilson – Judiciary)
This bill establishes the Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys within the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Office of the Staff Director. There shall be 19 members appointed to the Commission, of partisan parity, no later than 90 days after establishment of the commission. Each member shall serve for a term of 4 years without compensation, and shall be removed by the appointing authority, should the member fail to meet the commission’s responsibilities.
The Commission will conduct a systematic study of the conditions affecting Black men and boys, report on the community impacts of relevant government programs, and make recommendations that would alleviate and remedy the underlying causes of the conditions affecting black men and boys. This Commission shall submit an annual report to Congress and the President, and make this report publicly available online, on a centralized Federal website.
