Senate Democrats Push For Yet Another Stimulus

Jun 22, 2011

Today, Senator Schumer floated spending untold amounts of taxpayer dollars on infrastructure and green jobs as key components of the new “jobs” plan. But there’s nothing new about it. It’s just another plan to spend billions in “stimulus” funds. Yes, after their first $787 billion stimulus failed to create jobs, they are proposing to spend even more taxpayer dollars on the same failed plan.

Senate Democrats Looking To New Stimulus Spending On Infrastructure and Green Jobs. “Infrastructure spending and support for clean energy are other possible Democrat demands. He told reporters that if the stimulus cannot be included in the package by Aug. 2, Democrats want it passed simultaneously.” (Erik Wasson, “Senate Dems push for stimulus in Biden talks,” The Hill, 6/22/11)

Democrats have tried this before and the results have been less than successful.

President’s Green Jobs Agenda Sees Little Success. “President Barack Obama heads to an energy plant in North Carolina on Monday to talk once again about the job-creating power of a green economy. The catch? Nearly three years into Obama's presidency, the White House can't point to much solid evidence that significant numbers of Americans are scoring the green jobs the president has been touting.” (Darren Samuelsohn, “Green Jobs Success Eludes Obama,” Politico, 6/12/11)
