McCarthy Statement on House Passage To Keep The Government Open

Mar 6, 2013

Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement regarding House passage of a Continuing Resolution funding the government through the Fiscal Year:

“Today, the House acted to keep the government open and protect our national defense, our military, our veterans and their families. In this funding measure, House Republicans reprioritized spending within the Department of Defense, Veterans’ Affairs and Military Construction appropriations to ensure our military and veteran communities have the flexibility and resources they need through the President’s sequester. The President said just last week he would sign a continuing resolution that respected spending levels in line with his sequester. This bill meets that criteria and I urge Leader Reid to swiftly pass this legislation and send it to the President for his signature.
