McCarthy Statement on House Passage to Delay Obamacare Mandates

Jul 17, 2013

Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 2667, the Authority for Mandate Delay Act and H.R. 2668, the Fairness for American Families Act:

“During consideration of Obamacare, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “We need to pass this bill to see what’s in it.” Three years later, the Administration finally made it through the legislative text and realized that they weren’t even close to being able to implement the law. Tonight’s votes are a test of whether the Democrats actually ever read the legislation. If they did, they know Obamacare’s mandates are unworkable. And they know that the Administration’s employer mandate delay helps the business community, but leaves individuals and families vulnerable to this flawed law. Tonight is an important test for Democrats: do they support the interests of the business community or the American people?”
