McCarthy Statement on Administration’s Decision to Place Electoral Politics Above the American People

Mar 5, 2014

Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement regarding the Administration’s decision to put electoral politics above the American people:

“Despite repeatedly promising the American people ‘if you like your plan, you can keep it,’ millions of Americans had their healthcare plans canceled. The President’s broken promise drove opposition to the healthcare law to new heights, and his approval rating to new lows. Today’s announcement is so blatantly political it goes beyond the pale. Under the law, a new round of cancelation notices would have been sent out to Americans across the country this fall – just before election day. This is an attempt to protect vulnerable Democrats, and does nothing to protect the affordability or quality of our healthcare system over the long term.”
