McCarthy: President’s Budget Will Make An America Built For Last

Feb 13, 2012

Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) released the following statement regarding President Obama’s proposed federal budget for Fiscal Year 2013:

“Over the last three years, out-of-control deficit spending, historic debt and persistently high unemployment have cost America our competitive edge in the world economy. The President’s $3.8 trillion budget that was presented to Congress this morning proposes more failed stimulus spending and massive tax increases that will continue to stall economic growth and job creation. This unserious plan includes a $1.3 trillion deficit for next year, the fourth consecutive deficit over $1 trillion under President Obama, and would add $11 trillion in new debt. The President’s $1.9 trillion tax hike will only make it harder for entrepreneurs and small businesses to expand and start hiring again.  This is not, as the President claims, a blueprint for an America ‘built to last’; rather, it is another reckless spending binge that will make an America that is built for last.”
