McCarthy Applauds Passage of the FY 2014 Defense Appropriations Act

Jul 24, 2013

Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement following the passage of H.R. 2397, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act:

“Providing our military personnel and operations with the full support to faithfully execute their missions that keep our country safe must transcend partisan division, which is why I applaud my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for supporting this bill today.  This bill reflects the difficult balance that must be made to ensure fiscal responsibility by saving $5.1 billion compared to fiscal year 2013, while also protecting the integrity of our military and the men and women who so honorably serve our country.  I applaud the leadership of Defense Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Bill Young and the Appropriations Committee on this incredibly important bill that provides certainty and commonsense reforms to our government agencies as they perform their duties while also saving American taxpayer dollars.”
