McCarthy Applauds House Passage of the FY2014 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill

Jun 6, 2013

Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement in regard to House passage of the fiscal year 2014 Homeland Security Appropriations bill:

“This legislation provides for our national security by funding critical programs to protect our borders, enforce our immigration laws, enhance transportation and cybersecurity, and ensure our first responders have all the necessary tools they need to carry out their important duties. It accomplishes all of this while adhering to the funding levels set within the Ryan budget in order to put our country on a path to fiscal sanity. We must rein in out-of-control spending and responsibly fund our government, and under the leadership of Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers, House Republicans have shown the Democrats how this is possible. Following regular order in the House is the best way to enact common-sense spending reforms. It is my sincere hope that our Senate colleagues recognize this opportunity and work with us to preserve our country's security and future.”
